Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences is a public university in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.

The university offers education across medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, nursing, public health, traditional medicine, laboratory and allied sciences and programmes are available to undertake at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

The university has two campuses, one in Upanga West, in the city of Dar es Salaam and another 31km west of Muhimbili Hospital, which has a 571-bed teaching hospital.

Research is one of the main focuses at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, with some 40 research endeavours going on at any one time. These can vary from looking at how vitamins impact children of HIV-infected women to analysing the impact that health insurance can have in developing countries.

Research here is supported internationally with partners across Europe and America. Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences has a longstanding relationship with the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health and includes joint research studies and both programmatic and training activities.

Every year multiple Tanzanian physicians, scientists, and researchers head to the Harvard Chan School to complete degree programmes or undertake non-degree training or academic sabbaticals in all manner of topics including maternal and child health, nutrition and infection diseases with a focus on HIV, TB and malaria.
